WTF even is “Men’s Work”?

Most of the men I meet are thoughtful, capable, and deeply committed to the people in their lives. Unfortunately, they often carry pressures, responsibilities, and expectations that they haven’t had many places to talk about honestly – as the world lacks spaces for men to explore these kinds of things.

As a man, you may have been taught to be independent and solution-focused but were not necessarily given the tools to navigate stress, emotions, relationships, or the unique pressure we each carry on a daily basis. Over time, the strategies that once helped you get through things can start creating new challenges.

In therapy, we look closely at those patterns – whether through talk therapy or EMDR – not to judge them, but to understand how they developed and what they’re trying to accomplish. Once you understand how your mind works, it becomes easier to make changes that stick.

Therapy is not about becoming a different person or fitting into someone else’s idea of masculinity (whether that’s showing up in your relationship with yourself, or in your role as a brother, son, father, husband, etc). It’s about understanding your patterns and reactions so you can make more intentional choices about how you live and act in the relationships that are important to you.
